Hollywood | Highland (2018)
Hollywood and Highland sees more foot traffic than any intersection in Los Angeles, with an ever shifting cast of international tourists drawn to the myth of Hollywood. Here on this northeast side of the street, people wait in the shadow of a long-abandoned and heavily graffitied bank building, avoiding homeless encampments, souvenir hawkers, and religious fundamentalists shouting into megaphones the certainty of coming hellfire. When the light changes at last they may cross the street to the Hollywood they came to see, the fever dream that no real place could ever live up to. The magic is contained wholly by the steady stream of humanity gathered to witness the wonder they packed and carried across continents.
