Postcards Between Here and There (2020)
During a cross-country road trip I made photographs from the passenger seat of our car, which served as both a safe space and my studio under pandemic conditions. These images represent in-between physical and temporal spaces in a nation undergoing unfathomable change.
The project finds visual inspiration in early 20th century Real Photo Postcards, individually darkroom-developed prints that creators could send as direct mail. The practice remained popular into the 1970s and yielded incidental historical documentation of ordinary spaces that were personally significant to senders and recipients.
